Project Coordinator (1 part time, 1 full time) - Funding Dependent

The Project Coordinator(s) will supervise all aspects of the Job Creation Program (JCP) project.  This will include;

  • Hiring the Team Coordinators

  • Assisting with the development of teamwork plans

  • Assisting with the hiring of team members

  • Supervising the completion of all JCP related paperwork and reporting

  • Monitoring the project site

  • Maintaining connection with all team members and team coordinator

  • Ensuring that participants are achieving their training goals

  • Coordinating and Facilitating team meetings

  • Developing site preparation plans

  • Overall supervision for the following project areas (Kitchen, Cultural team, Shuttle driving, security, site maintenance, volunteers)

  • Ensuring teams have all supplies and resources required for success

  • Providing feedback to project participants

The Project Coordinator(s) will have experience in event management, team supervision and project coordination. 

The Project Coordinator(s) will successfully pass a Criminal Record Check.

 
Kitchen Coordinator - 1 position - Funding Dependent

The Kitchen Coordinator will supervise the team selection, team coordination, kitchen set up, and the day to day work of the kitchen team.  This will include;

  • Interviewing and hiring team members

  • Orientation of team members

  • Scheduling training

  • Working with the team to prepare cooking sites

  • Coordinating with suppliers

  • Coordinating day to day working tasks

  • Preparing working schedules

  • Preparing and serving food

  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment

  • Support other festival preparations as required

The kitchen coordinator will have a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory role in a high-volume food service setting.

This role will involve significant physical work (standing long periods, lifting and carrying)

 
Kitchen Crew - 4 positions - Funding Dependent

The Kitchen crew members will assist with preparing the site for food service and completing daily food service during the event.  This will include the following;

  • Participating in training and orientation

  • Participating in Food Safe training

  • Assisting with preparing the cooking sites

  • Assist with managing inventory and stock

  • Responsible for day to day food preparation and kitchen tasks

  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment

  • Support other festival preparations as needed

The kitchen crew should have some background in food related environments.

This role will involve significant physical work (standing long periods, lifting and carrying)

 
Recycling and Maintenance Crew Coordinator​ - 1 position - Funding Dependent

The Recycling and Maintenance Crew Coordinator will be responsible for team selection, team coordination, site set up, and the day to day work of the Recycling and Maintenance team.  This will include;

  • Interviewing and hiring team members

  • Orientation of team members

  • Scheduling training

  • Working with the team to prepare festival sites

  • Coordinating with suppliers

  • Coordinating day to day working tasks

  • Preparing working schedules

  • Supporting the day to day operations of the team

  • Maintaining cleanliness and safety of festival site

  • Maintaining the cleanliness and safety of bathrooms and showers

  • Support other festival preparations as needed

The Recycling and Maintenance Crew Coordinator will have a minimum of six months experience in a team supervision role.

This role will involve significant physical work (standing long periods, lifting and carrying)

 
Recycling and Maintenance Crew - 4 positions - Funding Dependent

The Recycling and Maintenance Crew will be responsible for maintaining the festival site including the following;

  • Participate in required orientation and training

  • Simple repairs and maintenance

  • Managing waste and recycling according to pick up requirements

  • Maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the site

  • Maintaining the cleanliness and safety of bathrooms and showers

  • Assisting with site set up preparations (tents, tables, chairs, small construction projects

  • Support other festival preparations as needed

This role will involve significant physical work (standing long periods, lifting and carrying)

Cultural Preparation Team Coordinator - 1 position - Funding Dependent

The Cultural preparation Team Coordinator will be responsible for team selection, team coordination, site set up, and the day to day work of the Cultural Preparation team.  This will include;

  • Interviewing and hiring team members

  • Orientation of team members

  • Scheduling training

  • Working with the team to prepare festival sites

  • Coordinating with suppliers

  • Coordinating day to day working tasks

  • Preparing working schedules

  • Supporting the day to day operations of the team

  • Coordinating with Elders

  • Following through on the cultural preparation plan

  • Working with team members to prepare gifts, giveaways, and items of cultural import

  • Support other festival preparations as needed

The Cultural Preparation Team Coordinator should have significant knowledge of Snuneymuxw culture and traditions.

Cultural Preparation Team - 4 positions - Funding Dependent

The Cultural Preparation team will prepare all of the items of cultural significance required for ceremony, protocols, and gifts.  This will include the following;

  • Collecting items to giveaway for gift baskets

  • Making items of cultural significance with the support of Elders

  • Harvesting traditional materials (eg. Cedar)

  • Implementing the cultural plan identified

  • Ensuring items are available for those who need them during ceremonies and activities

  • Support other festival preparations as needed

The Cultural Preparation Team should have significant knowledge of Indigenous culture and protocol.

 
Security Team Coordinator - 1 position - Funding Dependent

The Security Team Coordinator will be responsible for team selection, team coordination, site safety planning, set up, and the day to day work of the Security team.  This will include;

  • Interviewing and hiring team members

  • Orientation of team members

  • Scheduling training

  • Working with the team to prepare festival sites

  • Coordinating with suppliers

  • Developing site safety plans

  • Developing site monitoring strategies

  • Coordinating day to day working tasks

  • Preparing working schedules

  • Supporting the day to day operations of the team

  • Support other festival preparations as needed

The Security Team Coordinator should have a minimum 1-year experience in security and safety planning.

This role will involve significant physical work (standing long periods, lifting and carrying)

 
Security Team - 4 positions - Funding Dependent

The Security Team will be responsible for ensuring site safety and security.  This will include;

  • Participate in required orientation and training

  • Obtain Basic Security Training Licensing

  • Act as First Aid and Safety attendants

  • Monitor site entrances and exits

  • Be mobile and present at various locations around the site

  • Assist with site set up and preparations

  • Support other festival preparations as needed

This role will involve significant physical work (standing long periods, lifting and carrying)

Shuttle Team Coordinator - 1 position - Funding Dependent

The Shuttle Team Coordinator will be responsible for team selection, team coordination, safety planning, van monitoring, and the day to day work of the Shuttle team.  This will include;

  • Interviewing and hiring team members

  • Orientation of team members

  • Scheduling training

  • Working with the team to prepare festival sites

  • Coordinating with suppliers

  • Developing safety plans and procedures

  • Developing vehicle monitoring strategies

  • Coordinating day to day working tasks

  • Preparing working schedules

  • Supporting the day to day operations of the team

  • Support other festival preparations as needed

The Shuttle Team Coordinator should hold a valid Class 5 Drivers Licence and have a clean driver abstract. This role will involve significant physical work (standing long periods, lifting and carrying)

Shuttle Team Members - 4 positions - Funding Dependent

The Shuttle team members will be responsible for providing safe and hospitable transportation for Elders and other guests and will also support the other driving needs of the event.  This will include the following;

  • Participate in required orientation and training

  • Obtain Class 4 licensing

  • Act as First Aid and Safety attendants while operating transport vehicles

  • Transport guests and Elder safely to and from event sites

  • Monitor road safety

  • Be mobile and present at various locations around the site

  • Assist with site set up and preparations

  • Support other festival preparations as needed

Shuttle team members need to hold a valid Class 5 DL, and will also need to have a clean drives abstract. This role will involve significant physical work (standing long periods, lifting and carrying)

Join the excitement of the Tribal Journeys Hospitality team as we prepare to host thousands of guests throughout the 5 day event. Experience is required. Those with large scale food production are encouraged to apply. 

 

Reporting to the Hospitality Coordinator, the Team Leads will be responsible for menu execution, staff and volunteer direction, and ensuring our food services exceed industry standards.

Renumeration will be based on experience

Site Coordinator - Big House & Camping

The Site Coordinator for Big House and Camping is responsible for coordinating the physical requirements and placement of the necessities for the Protocol and Camping areas. This includes mapping out the sites with amenities, and ensuring organization at these areas.

Anyone with experience organizing events, or managing multiple groups at a venue would be a good fit for this role.
